WASHINGTON DC: US Democrats have shifted their position on President Donald Trump’s plans for a monumental arch in Washington DC (main picture)  and will now support the project.

Congressional leaders in the Democratic Party believe the change in their position will pay dividends at the looming November mid-term elections and in the 2028 presidential election.

“We know the big arch is yet another ugly and unnecessary vanity project by an ugly, unnecessary, and vain President,” one Democratic Party source said on the condition of anonymity.

“We know that he will name it after himself, probably the Donald J Trump Arch or something similar.

“We know that he plans to arrange for the big arch ultimately to be used as his burial site right in the middle of the nation’s capital. That’s all part of his legacy planning.

“We also know that there is a vast body of voters who totally reject the very idea of the big arch and will use it as one of many reason to vote against the Republican Party in November.

“So we really don’t need to invest time, effort, or – most importantly – campaign funds on convincing people that the arch is a big bad idea.

“So we’ll effectively run dead on the issue, but reap the rewards of public anger anyway,” the source said.

The source was then asked why the party was taking such a position which guaranteed that the supposedly unwanted arch would be built.

“Oh yeah, for sure the arch will be built. We acknowledge that,” the source said.

“But once we win the House and Senate in November and then the Presidency in 2028, we’ll be able to use the big arch to our advantage,” the source explained.

“By then the President may well have succumbed to his advanced dementia or terminal incontinence,

“Also by then he may well be be buried in the arch, in what will be his final resting place for all of eternity.

“We don’t even plan to oppose that, but once it happens and we’re in control of the government we’ll be renaming the arch as the Tomb of the Known Cunt,” the source said.
