Tyro excels at tongue ‘n groove!

A young Irish import has flashed up on the outside to salute the judges and take out our uncoveted Media Glass House Arse-Licker for the month of September trophy!

As mentioned recently in Australia’s No1 family netzine, Newscorpse righter Greg Sheridan looked set to clear a fresh space on his crowded mantelpiece for yet another ALOTM trophy, with judges forced to plead for other glory seekers not to give up just because the Cardigan man looked unbackable for a recent piece slamming Anthony “Airbus” Albanese for having the temerity to do prime-ministerial stuff in the US instead of staying home and copping flak for fucking over the Australian economy!

And it’s true that on the eve of ALOTM judging, Sheridan turned into the main straight with no other contender in sight as he hurtled towards the winning post looking London to a brick as Australia’s best mainstream arselicker for the 30 days of last month.

But when he was halfway down the straight, a longshot entered the home stretch and gathered Sheridan in, winning by a brown nose over a shocked and perhaps just a little too cocksure of himself Sheridan! So we say congratulations to News24 digital reporter Conor Breslin.

Our ALOTM judges were so impressed with Breslin’s work that they’ve asked the judges of two other top Bug awards – the Click-Bait and the Beat-Up of the Year trophies – to also consider Breslin for a never-before-achieved possible trifecta!

Why Breslin could be a shoo-in for those extra awards becomes clear as we explain his breakthrough ALOTM glory at such an young age!

Here’s the link on the News24 home page to his winning entry, based on his own analysis of network colleague, Harry Clarke’s report from Logan in Jim Chalmers’ electorate.

Take a closer look at that ….

Boy, oh boy! Is Chalmers in trouble, right! Might be lucky to hold onto his seat in 2028!

There’s only one problem though. Breslin’s interpretation of Clarke’s report is woefully wrong; it’s clearly designed to fulfil what he sees, quite far rightly, as his role at News24: to sink the boot into Labor at every possible opportunity.

Clarke’s report wasn’t too bad in fact – so we hope he’s still employed at News24 – and in it he interviewed four
Logan locals and only the last came out with the “we need a new government” line.

Breslin has grabbed that report faster than a seagull after a potato chip at the beach and that one comment has become the comment of any number of Chalmers’ constituents. Were Breslin a police reporter, he’s probably see no problem at all in doubling or tripling the deaths in a road crash, on the theory of never letting the facts get in the way of a good story.

No. Our ALOTM judges will be keeping their eye on Breslin. As will his superiors at the network and Rupert and Lachlan Murdoch; who currently all have arses you could eat a meal off courtesy of this young man’s excellent ring-mastery and cloacal cleaning capacity! For someone so young to be rimming with such confidence is truly astounding.

And can you BUGgers now see why he’s got a good chance at glory in several of our other MSM awards?

This …

… is a classic example of electronic-mediocre click-baitery. Even if the viewer goes no further, the overblown attack on Chalmers has done its job. And it is also a damn fine beat-up to boot.

EDITOR’S NOTE: All of our researchers who work in the media-review hub on the main mezzanine level at BUG HQ are fair, honest and reasonable folk and accept that the online graphic and teaser for Breslin’s piece might have been the work of a graphic artist. But of the three people Breslin plucked from the Clarke interview, the first two said Chalmers and the Labor government had to do more and it was only the third interviewee with the “we need a new government” line. Breslin put his name and reputation on the line with his report and if he objected to the anti-Labor bias shown on screen atop his piece, he should have demanded it be corrected.
