No-one offers more uncoveted mainstream mediocre awards than Australia’s No1 family online newszine! The Wankleys might be one night a year but as you can see from the montage at top of goblets, shields, plaques and trophies – awarded either monthly, anally or annually – the cost to The Bug of presenting all these honours would be astronomical if we actually made them and sent them out to all those winners.

But enough of the bragging. This is an update of the fierce competition now under way in several of our categories and we thank a not-so-old-as-any-of-us-here former scribe colleague John Reynolds for this addition to our ClickBait prize barrel.

This home-page teaser from the LNP’s Bowen Hills sub-branch certainly would have readers wringing their hands in sympathy for this pretty young thing, probably a single mother now sleeping rough, squeezed into a small sedan with her hungry and unwashed kids. Fuck woke, commie Albanese, right?
But as JR explains on Farecebook: “Talk about click bait. The headline suggests she has become homeless because of the rule changes. But in actual fact, she simply can’t buy “two more” investment properties. Cue the mini violins.”
JR would have too and left it unsaid, but we also noticed the deliberate use of the singular “home” to add weight to the one-sided, biased, anti-Labor push on here. Here is what a professional objective news organisation would have used at the very least…

Homes – for that’s what the story said – could cause confusion in the minds of readers and make them uncertain of the plight this poor lady faces.
Of course, “loses” is totally misleading too. Her only loss was the chance to buy more investment homes to rent out to people who will never own their own.
A much more professional pointer – not that any Newscorpse platform knows anything about that sort of journalism bullshit – would have been to ditch the meaningless ‘No idea’ ‘and run with Woman can’t buy homes to rent in Albo’s rule changes”. But, once again, that doesn’t evoke images of our pretty young thing sleeping rough with her kids under the trees in a local park, does it?
Our usual spotter-fee is not on its way to JR.

Here’s a typical problem at this time of any month for our most-popular MSM award, our Arse-Licker trophy for championship cloacal cleaning of the mogul-media powers-that-be.
Our judges are pleading with late entries for this much-unsought-after award after contributions dried up immediately after an excellent piece of ring-mastery recently by the Cardigan Man, Greg Sheridan.
As our senior judge explained: “There’s still some days ago so please don’t give up even if Sheridan, a past winner, is rimming with confidence right now.”
