CANBERRA: Further details have emerged of the federal Liberal-National Party coalition’s just-announced policy criminalising the burning of the Australian flag.

As part of his ongoing campaign to outflank One Nation, federal Opposition Leader, Anus Taylor, has revealed the new policy which would make burning the national flag punishable by up to 12 months in jail.

“We need this policy to tackle the epidemic of flag burning evident across Australia,” Mr Taylor said during an unpaid advertisement screened by the Murdoch media’s NewsLNP 24, formerly SkyLNP News.

“Every day, or more correctly, every hour of every day, almost every minute, we see Australian flags being burned by woke, left-wing, antisemitic, woke, socialist, tree-hugging, greenie, – did I say woke? – radicals.”

Mr Taylor said the coalition had considered making flag-burning punishable by death.

“But we decided against that because One Nation hasn’t yet gone that far,” he explained. “But we’ll keep an eye on that option and may well announce it in the lead-up to the next election.”

“Sure, we’ve included specific references to those two – I hesitate to use the word – flags,” Mr Taylor said.

“But while some woke, left-wing, antisemitic, woke, socialist, tree-hugging, greenie, – did I say woke? – radicals, regard both pieces of decorated fabric as flags, the coalition doesn’t.

“So our new policy aims to rid the country of them both and people who burn either the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander….err, bits of fabric, will not face prosecution but may well receive cash payments, or an Order of Australia, or at least some recognition of some kind.

“It’s important that we have only one nation… I mean one flag to show that we as Australians are one nation… I mean one people living in One Nation … I mean one nation,” Mr Taylor said.
