BRISBANE: Complaints last year by some Brisbane boaties have reportedly forced businessman and former MP, Clive Palmer, to moor his luxury yacht in a different position in the Brisbane River for tonight’s annual Riverfire fireworks display. (below)

Prior to last year’s event Mr Palmer’s 56-metre vessel is officially christened Vote One United Australia Party but from a distance only “Australia” can be read clearly.
It is valued at an estimated $40 million, features two sundecks, outdoor and indoor bars, a jacuzzi, and a 24-hour all-you-can-eat buffet for one.
Prior to Riverfire 2025 Mr Palmer drew criticism for mooring the yacht in a prime position for viewing the fireworks which caused many smaller boats to be displaced.
Mr Palmer’s office would neither confirm nor deny that the billionaire had arrived in the yacht when it was spied sailing up the Brisbane River yesterday, but photographs suggest he was on board on one of the rear sundecks. (main picture)

OTTAWA: Canadian Prime Minister, Mark Carney, has resolved to fight back against US President Donald Trump’s effort to rename Lake Ontario as Lake America as part of the two leaders’ spat over trade tariffs.
Mr Carney today announced that he had issued an order to all Canadian cartographers and map-makers that the name Strait of Hormuz should be replaced immediately with the Bone Spur Strait. (below)

“The Prime Minister believes the new name better reflects contemporary events and, after all, it physically looks like a bone spur on a map anyway,” a spokesperson for Mr Carney said.

MEXICO CITY: Emboldened by Canada’s renaming of the Strait of Hormuz in retaliation for US President Trump’s rebranding of Lake Ontario as Lake America, Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum has taken similar action.
“From today I have directed all maps produced in Mexico to rename the US border state of New Mexico as Old Mexico,” President Sheinbaum said.
“I have also launched legal action to ban the use of the word ‘chihuahua’ being applied to the very, very small dogs of Mexican origin that we all know and love if they are sold in the United States.
“From now if any variant of that little doggy is bred or sold or adopted anywhere in the USA it must be called a trumpenis,” she added.
