TEL AVIV: Israel’s far right-wing national security minister, Ben Gvir, (main picture) says despite legal obstacles he will push ahead with his plan to install Nile crocodiles in a moat surrounding a jail designed to hold Palestinian prisoners.

“There is nothing wrong with my plan and I will continue fighting the antisemitic decisions taken by antisemitic courts against me in an effort to stop it,” Mr Gvir said.

“Antisemitic opponents have raised many antisemitic so-called concerns about the plan, but these antisemitic objections are groundless.

“These are animals that are accustomed to being removed from their native habitat, living in captivity in a desert-like environment surrounded by heavy security, who know they risk being shot dead at a moment’s notice, and who can ultimately be slaughtered and processed into value-added commodities such as handbags, shoes, or belts.

“So too are the crocodiles, so what’s the problem?” Mr Gvir asked.

SYDNEY: The ABC has refused to comment on a leaked draft of an apology it issued to mining magnate Gina Rinehart for content she found offensive in a segment of the national broadcaster’s Race Around The World program.

Ms Rinehart (below) demanded the apology which was issued yesterday by ABC managing director, Hugh Marks, despite the broadcaster’s internal ombudsman finding an apology was not warranted because the segment by filmmaker Kate McGuiness did not breach editorial standards.

The Bug has obtained Mr Mark’s first draft of his apology which read: “Because of the boundless hypocrisy of those aligned with the political far-right I am compelled, if only to put an end to this manufactured shitstorm, to issue this apology to Ms Rinehart. If she has had her feelings hurt, then I am sorry – so sorry that she has such a thin skin. You’d think the exact opposite was the case when you cop a look at her, wouldn’t you?”

The draft was amended considerably before the final apology was issued from the managing director’s office.

In a statement in response Ms Rinehart said: “I thank the Australian Communist Corporation’s managing commissar, Hugh Karl Marx, for his apology and his recognition that in the public arena we need to maintain high standards of behaviour and commentary.

“But I believe he needs to go further and dump Ms McGuiness from the Race Around The World Program. In short – ditch the bitch.”
