Death dealt differently

Which images of death should sensitive TV news watchers be spared from? A: A collision between two fire-fighting helicopters in Greece that killed two? Or B: An alleged Ukranian drone strike on a Russian beach that killed seven sunseekers, including three kids?

The answer is A, according to the news directors at Nine News Queensland and ABC Queensland news! The image on the left, above, and the one below from Nine News Queensland, show how both news networks halted the vision just before the choppers collided, killing a Danish pilot and a Greek firefighter.

Yet no such sensitivity was afforded to viewers for the moment that claimed Ukranian drone blew some innocent people apart. Well, we assume so. Some of them anyway.

The MGH is pretty sure Nine News Queensland also showed the moment of the deadly drone strike but we were unable to check that, because of recent days 9now has only shown one news bulletin (the previous night’s) instead of a week. We’ve never see that before so it’s probably a story in itself.

Neither deadly moment in the full videos showed body bits flying about and we assume Australia’s air crash authorities would have no say in what could be shown of a European air disaster so we guess you BUGgers out there have no idea either for the starkly different approaches.
