WASHINGTON DC: US President Donald Trump has appointed a special envoy to deal with US Congress members following their vote to restrict his powers to conduct the war against Iran.
The vote passed by a slim margin 215:208 after four Republican Party members of the House of Representatives crossed the floor to support it.
At a White House media call, Mr Trump announced Arizona resident Jacob Chansley (main picture) as his personal representative to conduct negotiations with congressional leaders of both the Republican and Democratic parties in the wake of the vote.
“Jacob is well known to most patriotic Americans for his good work in January of 2021 leading a tour group of the Capitol,” Mr Trump said. “So he knows his way around up there and I’m sure he’ll do well.”
Mr Trump said he would also be appointing several other members to a delegation Mr Chansley would lead to the Capitol.
“I’ll be giving Jacob some support staff, probably just a few hundred, so he can carry out his work on Capitol Hill more effectively.”
Turning to Mr Chansley, the President offered him some words of encouragement.
“I know you and the support staff you’ll have will make members of Congress see treason… I mean see reason,” he said.
“I saw a few years back just how well you work with members of Congress on Capitol Hill, especially the way you hang… I mean harangue them.
“I’ll be personally hand-picking the extra staff members so I know that you and your offsiders will do a great job.
“Make me proud boys,” the President said while patting Mr Chansely on the back.

NEW YORK: The New York City Police Department (NYPD) says it has solved the mystery of people caught on video emerging from city sewers. (below)

“Police were at first unsure about exactly what was happening when the vision came to light, some of which showed what seemed to be people carrying buckets of faeces from the sewers,” an NYPD spokesperson said.
“But we received a phone call explaining exactly what was going on and there is a very simple explanation.”
The spokesperson said the phone call came from the Fox News network which said the video showed its researchers undertaking their usual practice of gathering material for broadcast.
“As a result we’ve stopped all further investigations,” the spokesperson said.

TEL AVIV: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has apologised for a “friendly fire” incident in which Israeli Defence Force missiles strayed off course and killed four members of the US Congress.
Mr Netanyahu (below) refused to take questions when making his short statement but said those who died in the “unfortunate accident” were Republican Party members of the US House of Representatives: Thomas Massie, Brian Fitzpatrick, Tom Barrett and Warren Davidson.

As he brushed past media representatives the Prime Minister did not respond when asked how missiles supposedly targeted at Hezbollah hideouts in what’s left of southern Lebanon could stray so far off course and hit four separate residential premises in and around Washington DC.
