TAMWORTH, NSW: Veteran politician Barnaby Joyce (pictured above) is set to become Australia’s next Attorney-General when Pauline Hanson’s One Nation wins power as expected at the next federal election.

At a snap media call earlier this morning outside his Tamworth electorate office in his lower-house seat of New England, Joyce made it perfectly clear to Hanson that the senior Attorney-General post in her Cabinet must be his in return for a startling declaration made to journalists earlier this morning.

Joyce announced he will stay the course and run for a NSW Senate position at the 2028 poll, giving up any chance of returning to the Deputy Prime Ministership under Hanson if he had recontested New England under the One Nation banner and Hanson as expected has run for and easily won any Queensland lower-house seat she decided to contest.

Joyce would have been entitled to demand the AG post if he had returned to the post of Deputy PM.

His Senate bid reaffirmation this morning also dispels any chance of a damaging fierce battle for The Lodge with Aunty Pauline, national leader of the white indigenous One Nation peoples.

Joyce this morning accepted that reporters deserved to be sceptical of his political aims, with several asking why he wanted to be AG if he had never shown any real interest in matters of law and had been an accountant before entering politics.

“I think it’s fairly obvious to youse all that I have never passed the bar,” Australia’s best retail politician admitted.

“But then again I don’t think I’ve ever passed any bar.”
