The Murdoch media is a big supporter of the Your Right to Know collective campaign by mainstream publishers aimed at tackling government secrecy and the selective release of information to the public.
But when it comes to its own behaviour, News Crap Australia can often be found wanting. Wanting to ignore stories that don’t fit its far, far, far right-wing agenda that is.
For instance, our Media Glass House teams are confident that most Australians would have read, seen, or heard news of the allegations of mistreatment by members of the Israeli Defence Force of humanitarian protestors whose international flotilla sailing to Gaza was illegally intercepted last week.
Our researchers are equally confident that most Australians would also be aware of the appalling stunt by far, far, far right-wing Israeli cabinet minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and his efforts to humiliate the apprehended protestors.
They are just as confident that most Australians would be aware of the detailed and shared claims by multiple members of the intercepted Gaza-bound flotilla of their physical and sexual humiliation at the hands of the IDF, contrary to the accusation by Israeli ambassador to Australia that such claims are fiction.
Our MGH teams are very confident of all of the above because of the extensive and continuing coverage given to this ongoing story by media outlets, not just across Australia, but around the world and not just in the many nations from which the flotilla members were drawn.
Here is just a very small sample of link to such stories our MGH teams found online about the flotilla members’ detention, Ben-Gvir’s stunt, and follow-up yarns in subsequent days.

But our MGH teams know that there is one Australian who apparently has deliberately ignored this important story, and that is The Australian – the national broadshit newspaper owned and operated as a far, far, far right-wing family newsletter by far, far, far right-wing members of the far, far, far right-wing Murdoch family, and staffed by an army of far, far, far right-wing lickspittles.
As far as our MGH researchers can determine, in more than a week since the story of Ben-Gvir’s antics broke, The Australian‘s hard-copy editions have carried not a single news story about the flotilla members’ abuse claims. However, the online version of the broadshit has run a whole three stories on the events – yep, count ’em, three!

Well, when we say three, one of them appearing online today is a comment piece by Melbourne-based Jewish author and freelance commentator Julie Szego. (below)

Her column gave a slight rebuke to Ben-Gvir but focussed mainly on pillorying the flotilla protestors as part of “an Islamo-Marxist endeavour” before acknowledging the correctness of official furious outrage expressed by many governments (including Australia via our own Foreign Minister Penny Wong) of their citizens on board the flotilla.
But she then declared such “fury seems over the top”, before very predictably pivoting to a whole other argument about why Penny Wong didn’t lambast the terrorist group Hamas (which our MGH teams understand, nay know, she has done and continues to do).
“[Wong] should have reminded us that [Israel’s blockade of Gaza] is a response to Hamas’s unending racist crusade against the Jewish state,” the commentator thundered.
Our MGH teams suggest Szego might have balanced her own article by adding: “Wong should have reminded us that the protestors’ actions were a response to Israel’s unending racist crusade against the Palestinian state.”
They do live in hope, the dear things.
Finally, our MGH teams wish to make one suggested correction to the Szego column.
She writes that “…it’s true that Ben-Gvir’s ‘values’ are out of line with those of mainstream Israel…”.
No, they aren’t.
