We’re off to the polls!

CANBERRA: The 2022 federal election campaign will start today when Prime Minister Scott Morrison visits the Governor-General to advise him to dissolve Federal Parliament.

Media set up their cameras outside Yarralumla and along the roads and laneways leading to the Governor-General’s official residence from The Lodge at first light after Mr Morrison had made it clear in a Perth radio interview overnight that there would be no election called soon because his government still had “work to do” after yesterday’s final sitting day of the 46th Parliament.

Polling day of Saturday 14 May was confirmed further when Mr Morrison (pictured below) rejected a suggestion of a mid-May election in another media interview.
