Trump launches comeback

Former US president Donald Trump has emerged from his Florida hideaway to launch his much-anticipated new political movement.

Since leaving office last month Mr Trump has been promising to reveal plans for a campaign to continue in some form his Make America Great Again movement.

At a news conference this morning at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Mr Trump said he was prompted to launch his new campaign by a decision of New York’s Supreme Court to grant access to his tax records to state prosecutors investigating alleged payments of hush money to women who claimed to have had extra-marital affairs with Trump.

“As I have said many, many times. So many times. I am the subject of the greatest political witch hunt in the history of our country,” he told reporters.

“This latest decision by the New York court is just more proof of that, so I decided to start The Greatest Political Witch Hunt In The History Of Our Country campaign to retake the White House in 2024 when sleepy, senile, syphilitic, somnambulant Joe Biden will be 112 years of age.

“The MAGA movement changed our nation and saw me elected as president, and I’m sure my new TGPWHITHOOC campaign will do the same,” he said.
