US President Donald Trump has put forward an alternative process for Americans to choose their next leader if he succeeds in having the 3 November presidential election not just delayed but scrapped.
Mr Trump has pointed to the possibility of widespread electoral fraud to justify his call for abandoning the traditional election process.
“Instead of Americans lining up outside polling places and waiting for hours, maybe months, to cast their votes, let’s have a quicker more reliable process,” he told reporters at the White House.
“I am putting forward a plan for a six-part weekly TV show based on my very successful The Apprentice program.
“It’s a way that we can conduct our presidential election in a manner befitting the majesty and history of the office.
“The Presidential Apprentice would pit me against Sleepy Senile Syphilitic Sex-Pest Joe Biden in a series of tasks to determine that I should be President.
“We need a process people can have faith in, and believe me there’s nothing more believable than reality TV.
“I should know. You know, nobody knows more about reality TV than me. No, nobody.”
When asked what evidence he had about the risk of electoral fraud in a traditional election, Mr Trump said he had “plenty”.
“There will be yuge electoral fraud if the usual election goes ahead. I can guarantee it,” he said before a staffer swiftly interrupted and led the President away.
