MEDICAL RESEARCH:
SURFERS PARADISE: After performing a barrage of medical tests overnight on Gold Coast City Mayor, Tom Tate, doctors claim they have discovered an invasive virus that explains the civic leader’s outburst yesterday when he swore at a journalist and walked away from questioning at a news conference. Cr Tate on Tuesday told an ABC journalist to “fuck off” after being questioned about the veracity of his claims that he dined on tomahawk steaks and wine with US President Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago in Florida in February.
The White House has told the ABC the President had not dined with Cr Tate but was present at the resort and had briefly stopped by the Mayor’s table.
Head of neurological research at the Gold Coast University Hospital, Dr Mal Praktiss, said Cr Tate was admitted for tests late yesterday in an effort to determine the cause of his behaviour. (main picture)
“Those tests have shown that President Trump is likely a carrier of a unique yet aggressive virus and had infected Cr Tate merely by the two men being in close proximity back in February,” Dr Praktiss said.
“The virus embeds itself in an infected patient and causes them to, shall we say, stretch the truth and become very nasty when dealing with other people who question them or their actions or decisions.”
Dr Praktiss said the results of the test linking President Trump to Cr Tate’s erratic and offensive behaviour had prompted his research team to label the new virus as mayor-a-lago.
“In retrospect, we believe the same sort of offensive behaviour and utterances by other Australians can be traced back to their brush with Mr Trump at his Florida home – people like Pauline Hanson and Gina Rinehart,” he said.
“We are trying to contact both of them to see if they will be tested for the mayor-a-lago virus to help confirm our hypothesis.”
This morning Cr Tate fronted another media conference to outline Gold Coast City Council plans to deal with the escalating number of homeless people camping in public parks.
After detailing a heavy-handed plan to demolish homeless camps and move on their occupants, Cr Tate justified the action by claiming: “They’re eating the dogs. They’re eating the cats.”
Cr Tate then changed the subject of his news conference to declare he was planning to build a huge ceremonial arch spanning the Pacific Highway as an entry feature to Surfers Paradise and would alter the name of the council’s cultural centre, the Home of the Arts to the Tom Tate Home of the Arts.
He then snapped at a reporter who attempted to question him: “Quiet. Quiet piggy.”
