NEW YORK: Top seed Alexander Zverev has stormed into the US Open final courtesy of a shock, never-seen-before, walkover win over Karen Khachanov.
Down two sets to love, Khachanov from Moscow, Russia, was showing great fighting spirit at five all in the third when he fell asleep waiting for Zverev to serve, and sadly could not be roused.
Video shows he nodded off between the 23rd and 24th ball bounce by the German.
Tennis experts say it’s the first time in Grand Slam history that a match had ended in a snore.
