Foreign Minister’s agony revealed

CANBERRA: It has been revealed that Foreign Minister, Senator Penny Wong, spent several hours earlier this week consulting historical government records to prepare herself for the meeting with Israel’s ambassador to Australia, Hillel Newman, over the findings by his government whitewashing the 2024 killings of aid workers in Gaza including Melbourne-born Zomi Frankcom.

“Senator Wong agonised long and hard before the meeting with Dr Newman,” an anonymous source within the Department of Foreign Affair and Trade (DFAT) revealed.

“She realised how much was riding on her meeting with the ambassador and how much interest there was in the outcome.

“She knew that many Australians, in fact most Australians leaving aside hardcore Zionists, were outraged that the Israel Defence Force assessed their own actions in deliberately striking the clearly identified World Central Kitchen motorcade in which Ms Frankcom was travelling and found there was no case to answer.

“The Foreign Minister wanted to get Australia’s response just right, which is why she called for numerous records to be brought to her office from the DFAT archives.

“She then spent several hours poring over old DFAT photos of former foreign ministers, especially Andrew Peacock and Alexander… I mean Lord Downer of Adelaide Hills. (below)

“Just like previous foreign ministers who were announcing useless Australian government responses to outrageous murderous or genocidal behaviour by Israel, Senator Wong wanted to get her facial expression just right when she fronted the cameras after her meeting with the ambassador.

“She already had her deeper and serious voice down pat, but needed to ensure her expression met the moment. She was torn between adopting the Peacock pursed lips, or His Lordship’s pout and ended up using both.” (main picture)

When asked if the Foreign Minister had contemplated expelling the Israeli ambassador over the killing of Ms Frankcom, the source replied: “Don’t be fucking stupid. That was never on the table.”
