Queensland Police say a second senior columnist for The Bug may face trial after being accused of attempting to benefit from the misuse of the internationally trademarked name of a global social media website.

At a hearing in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today The Bug‘s finance and investment columnist, Morrie Bezzle, (main picture) was committed for trial following an investigation sparked by a complaint by the Chinese-based owner of the popular Tik Tok website.

Morrison Edison Ponzi Phar Lap Bezzle, age and address unknown, was charged with infringing the trademark owned by the ByteDance company.

Police prosecutor, Sergeant Lewis Sirterry, said Bezzle had been arrested and charged after an investigation which started after the receipt of a complaint from ByteDance.

“The company drew to the attention of investigators a website called Dik Dok which we will allege was established by Mr Bezzle on behalf of a Doctor Dick, (below) the resident medical advice columnist for The Bug online news outlet,” Sergeant Sirterry told the court.

“The new website was billed as an adjunct to Doctor Dick’s online advice column which appears sporadically in The Bug and which, I am reliably advised, is Australia’s’ favourite family news website.

“But in fact the Dik Dok site was dedicated to screening very graphic videos of men who had contacted Doctor Dick with questions relating to penis size.

“At this stage police are yet to locate Doctor Dick who has not been attending his Brisbane surgery and has not been in contact with editorial staff at The Bug for some weeks.

“But we believe further investigations will lead to similar charges being brought against him and we will likely issue a warrant for his arrest,” Sergeant Sirterry said.

Madge E Strait SM committed Bezzle for trial on a date to be fixed.

Outside court Mr Bezzle, after uttering a string of racially charged anti-Chinese abuse, said he would vigorously defend the charges.

“This is yet another instance of shiny-arsed pen pushers frustrating the legitimate efforts of an entrepreneur like me and a respected quack… err, I mean medico like Doctor Dick,” he said.
