TAMWORTH: One Nation MP, Barnaby Joyce, says he has secured an undertaking from party leader, Queensland Senator Pauline Hanson, to never again wear a burka into Federal Parliament as a cheap stunt to inflame the immigration debate and garner votes.

Speaking to reporters in the main street of his home town of Tamworth, the former deputy prime minister, former National Party leader, and former greatest retail politician in the nation (below) said he had secured the commitment from Senator Hanson.

“I spoke to Pauline at length after she returned from her UK and European trip,” Mr Joyce said.

“I explained to her that it wasn’t in One Nation’s best interests to be painted as racists, and gave as an example her past two stunts wearing burkas into the Senate chamber.

“She rapidly agreed to not ever do that again and said her UK visit and chat with Tommy Robinson had influenced her decision.

“Instead of a burka, Pauline said she’d been trying out a new outfit that Robinson recommended for her.” (main picture)

At that point Mr Joyce paused, turned his gaze away from the assembled reporters, looked down at the ground near his feet and yelled loudly: “Quiet! Sit down! Shut up!”

The reporters, noting there was nothing at his feet, asked Mr Joyce to explain himself.

“Sorry. Force of habit,” he said. “You see every time I mention Pauline or One Nation policies on immigration, all these dogs start appearing as if they’ve been whistled up.

“I thought the same was about to happen just then and tried to head them off.”

Reporters asked Mr Joyce if it had been a longstanding problem for him.

“No it hasn’t been,” he replied. “It’s only happened since I joined One Nation.

“When I was in the Nats I’d usually just see pink elephants,” Mr Joyce belched before falling sideways off the planter box on which he had been sitting.
