Another two long weeks have passed since I last offered up for our reader more draft copy for my upcoming and latest loss-leading book.

That means, if anything remains of the arithmetic Aspley State School teachers valiantly tried to instil in me a long time ago, it’s now eleven weeks since Friday April 17, the date the District Court judge hearing my appeal against a Magistrate’s Court conviction for speeding in a school zone seemed very confident he could hand down his ruling by.
As mentioned before, if that appeal judge is half the professional, objective, decently fair and analytical jurist I hope him to be, I’m happy if he takes all the time needed to evaluate what you will all know by now is a very interesting case with several unknown unknowns that might never be known. I’m not sure I’ve mentioned before a camera operator’s certificate that might or may not exist and a lower-court transcript that may or may not be missing some important dialogue. Both were crucial to our pitch at appeal.
And if he’s …. that’s right; I still don’t know the judge’s name which just shows the top investigative reporter I never was – having as much trouble as I’m faced with getting to the bottom of such things, my heart goes out to him.
Talking of timeframes, it’s now also some 37 days since I wrote to QTranscripts calling for an examination to determine if, indeed, the written transcript and the oral recording show a section of those lower-court proceedings in late May last year is indeed missing. I pleaded for a quick response; none has been received.
On the matter of a certificate that does or does not exist, I will this weekend post a letter to Queensland Police Commissioner Brett Pointing advising of my very firm belief that this certificate signed off by a remote camera operator definitely exists and, not only that, must in all likelihood, have been deliberately and falsely declared. For that reason I have humbly requested that he commence a QPS investigation to see it that allegation is true and if so, whether a breach of Queensland Public Sector rules of conduct and even perhaps a criminal offence has been committed.
