US President Donald Trump is stepping up his attacks on “dangerous left-wing wokeness” which he says is “infecting” Hollywood.

My sources in Tinsel Town tell me that they fear a new assault on their artistic independence as the President and his billionaire BFFs tighten their financial grip on moviemaking.

“Emboldened by the willingness of Amazon owner Jeff Bezos to fund the First Lady’s recent so-called ‘documentary’ Melania,  Trump is pressuring Bezos to make a similar movie about him as the 45th and 47th president,” one source who wished to remain anonymous confided in me.

“Trump has even had posters drawn up to promote the film (main picture) and has plans to stage a world premiere in his new ballroom at the White House which he says will be the only venue big enough – with a capacity of around 2,000.

“What nobody has yet told him is that the new ballroom could easily have been used to screen Melania because it could fit all cinemagoers who have so far paid to see it across the USA, and many, many more.”

Meanwhile I am told that Mr Trump is still to decide who should take over his role in the Amazon-funded remake of the popular TV series The Apprentice which is credited with lifting his national profile sufficiently to fuel his first successful presidential campaign.

There has been public speculation that Donald Trump Junior might be the star of the new series but his father has given only qualified support to that idea. (below)

“Don Jr is keen to take on the role but knows his father will have the final say,” a source within Amazon said.

“That’s why Don Jr was happy when someone at the White House asked the President about his other son taking on the hosting role to which he ruled out Barron as being too young but also too busy with his college studies.

“When the questioner clarified that they meant his other older son, Trump said: ‘Who?’

“So everyone is putting money on Don Jr although I wouldn’t rule out the President reprising the role himself since he’s been telling associates that he’s now so accustomed to his role as President that he’ll have plenty of time to host The Apprentice in his third term.”

My friends in Hollywood are also bracing for new Trump-backed legislation to “outlaw woke” decision-making in the entire process of filmmaking.

“Right now Trump has the new Michael Jackson biopic Michael (below) in his sights because of what he says are the ‘woke’ decisions taken by its producers,” another source who did not wish to be identified told me.

“In particular he says he can’t abide the decision to cast a black actor in the lead role, even though the star of the movie is Michael’s nephew.

“The President thinks the role should have gone to someone else, namely a white actor because, as he is telling associates: ‘Everyone knows Michael was white’,” the source said.
