MEDIA NEWS:
Media mogul Rupert Murdoch (far right and at left in main picture) has personally ordered the sacking of any staff at the News Crap Australia broadshit The Australian who were involved in what he described as the “totally incompetent” handling of front-page stories on Saturday.
The 143-year-old Murdoch, who retired as co-chair of the global News Crap organisation last year but maintains a role as co-chair of the global News Crap organisation, was reported by a company source as being “boiling with red-hot anger” when he saw the front page of The Weekend Australian. “Rupert was on the phone immediately from his cryogenic cell in his New York penthouse and directed editor-in-chief Michelle Gunn to independently arrive at the conclusion that people must be sacked for such a shoddy front page,” a company source said.
“Rupert was incensed that the headline screaming ‘Anti-Semites are winning’ was used on the news story that extensively quoted former head of the Department of Home Affairs, Mike Pezzullo, and which again raised doubts about the competence of the Albanese Government’s ability to handle national security.
“You might remember Pezzullo – he was sacked by the Albanese Government in 2023 after it was revealed he had sent numerous texts to a Liberal Party powerbroker over many years trying to influence political decision-making of Coalition governments including efforts to undermine his political and public service opponents, and to promote the careers of conservative politicians he regarded as his allies.
“So he’s the perfect independent source for The Oz to use as the basis for a story attacking the Albanese Government.
“Yet nowhere in that front-page lead was Pezzullo or anyone else directly quoted as saying the ‘anti-Semites are winning’.
“That claim – or alternative fact as it is known these days at The Oz – was actually put forward in an accompanying commentary piece by one of the paper’s senior reporters who helped write the main story.
“As far as Rupert was concerned it was sacrilege to use the headline ‘Anti-Semites are winning’ on the news story when it actually belonged to the comment piece which itself was headlined ‘Rise of local terror demands better from our leaders’.
“He told Gunn that both the news story and comment piece should have had headlines calling the Albanese Government anti-Semitic.
“To miss that opportunity just weeks from an election was sheer incompetence, he told her.
“Rupert also expressed his anger that the words ‘leaders’ in the comment piece’s headline ‘Rise of local terror demands better from our leaders’ might be interpreted by some readers as being critical of Peter Dutton as well as Albo.
“That, for Rupert, was the last straw, so come Monday there’ll be a few empty desks at Holt Street,” the source said.
