BRISBANE: A first-time dad who should now be beginning the New Year as a proud, supportive partner and proud parent has found himself sacked at the worst possible time after a dreadful misunderstanding at his workplace.

One of the two sub-editors still working at The Courier-Mail in Bowen Hills, the man was escorted by security off the paper’s Bowen Hills building at around 8.40pm last night (Tuesday).

The Bug understands the scribe, who had worked at the quality Brisbane compact for some years, got a phone call at the subs desk and excitedly stood up and shouted” “My wife’s in labour!”

His comments were quickly passed on to the paper’s editor Chris Jones (far right, below) who immediately called security.
