LNP’s priorites take a bath

QUEENSLAND POLITICS:

State Opposition Leader David Crisafulli has sheepishly admitted why he fronted a media call yesterday without his LNP “The Right Priorities for Queensland’s Future” booklet clasped limpet-mine like to his chest (above).

In recent times, both Crisafulli and his deputy Jarrod Bleijie have not been pictured without their booklets, proudly printed in the blue and yellow colours former Premier Campbell Newman stole from the Brisbane City Council when he was Lord Mayor.

A red-faced Crisafulli confessed in an exclusive interview with The Bug that on Sunday night, he has taken a bath and then a rinse-off shower at his home not realising he still had the booklet grasped tightly in both hands.

“It got soaked through so it’s home in front of a little heater getting dried out at the moment.”

Asked why he hadn’t simply grabbed another booklet for the bayside presser, seeing his deputy was shown standing behind him with his own booklet as was the usual custom, Crisafulli replied: “The party only had the two printed.”

But he added: “My copy won’t take long to dry out. There’s only a single page inside the booklet’s cover, with just a few dot points outlining the LNP’s basic pro-business/anti-worker philosophies on one side and a general statement on the other agreeing with everything The Courier-Mail and Nine News Brisbane have been saying about the Palaszczuk government over many months now about spiralling and out-of-control general and youth crime that has most if not all Queenslanders scared and locked in their own homes, the deepening health sector crisis and the fact that cost-of-living pressures affecting all Queenslanders are clearly of absolutely no interest to a state government that has clearly run out of puff, out of ideas and out of time.”

Crisafulli also added that if he and his deputy didn’t always grasp the booklets so tightly, a stiff breeze could blow them away.
