I am saddened to report – exclusively, as always – that tensions within the royal family have surfaced in the most unusual of forms.
It seems that the various feuds and outright fights evident since the departure to the USA of Their Royal Non-Highnesses, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, are now playing out in a battle over official Christmas cards.
His Majesty King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla have taken a very traditional approach with their Christmas card this year – picking an official portrait from the King’s coronation in May. (at left, below)
His heir, the Prince of Wales, Prince William, has also adopted a very straightforward family portrait to grace his Christmas cards. (at right, below)

But Prince Harry and his wife, the former Meghan Markle, have issued a rather pointed card which my Buckingham Palace sources have viewed as nothing less than a pointed barb aimed squarely at the heart of the royal family itself. (main picture)
My sources believe that the somewhat provocative card is yet another attempt by the Sussexes to attack the King over what has been reported to be his remarks about the possible skin colour of their son Archie made prior to his birth.
Many of the courtiers to whom I have spoken told me they have never previously seen a Christmas card, or any form of royal communication for that matter, like it.
Although some have been just as taken aback by this year’s effort by the Duke of York, Prince Andrew.
They tell me his Christmas card is a blatant attempt to shame his brother, His Majesty the King, into reinstating him as a “working royal” and to deliver him share of the privy purse that goes with the position.
“The Duke of York is clearly trying portray himself as being broke having been photographed in a bare room and also having ‘lost his shirt’ through the massive payments he has made as a result of settling that most tawdry court case against him,” one royal insider told me.
“But if he thinks he can guilt the King into giving in to his unreasonable demands, he can think again.”
