The incomparable Sharri Markson has stormed into contention – heck, she’s probably hot favourite now – for The Bug‘s Media Glass House Arse-Licker of the Month award.
Markson’s front-page article in a recent edition of the national broadshit, The Australian, has virtually left the Arse-Licker judges speechless except for one who said: “Even I could safely eat a meal off Rupert Murdoch’s arse after this!”
Headlined Albanese’s battle cry in war on family wealth, the article by the Oz’s investigations writer somehow miraculously coincided with the ramping up by the Morrison Government of stinging personal attacks against the federal Opposition Leader.
And when did Albanese make these “previously unreported remarks” while arguing for an inheritance (DEATH!) tax?
At an ALP conference in 1991 when Albanese was assistant general secretary of NSW Labor!
Yes, that’s how far back Sharri is prepared to investigate things to nail Albanese.
Admittedly, Sharri mentions later that Albanese “has since moved away from his radical left heritage, positioning himself as a centrist politician and safe pair of hands”.
But, oh, that heading!
A wonderful companion piece to efforts by News Corp’s parliamentary wing to do everything in its power to bring Albanese down to Scott Morrison’s level over the next three months.
“It’s a big ask but with writers of the calibre of Sharri Markson on board, anything could happen,” another Arse-Licker of the Month judge commented.
