Prime Minister Scott Morrison has been sensationally evicted from Bert Newton’s state funeral at St Patrick’s Cathedral in Melbourne after he lunged at the late entertainment legend’s coffin and almost knocked it off its wheeled biers.
The PM yelled: “You were a true Australian patriot unlike Anthony Albanese who is a Chinese sympathiser!” as he embraced the coffin and sobbed uncontrollably in the direction of his official photographer.
Mr Morrison was then escorted from the cathedral, yelling that in his view electric vehicles had “always been good technology”.
Earlier in the service, the PM could be seen in front of a number of arranged cameras at the service giving his familiar both-thumbs up and cheesy grin, and popped up on the ceremonial dais beside Arcbishop Comensoli and fellow priests as the communion began (at top).
He had also been seen picking up Bert Newton’s widow Patti’s hand and shaking it.
