They were keen, then they weren’t and now they’re keen again!
To run, that is. NSW Deputy Premier John Barilaro and Andrew Constance are back as candidates for the upcoming Eden-Monaro by-election, for the Nationals and Liberals respectively.
Their announcements – at roughly the same time last night – came after both were sacked as NSW ministers by Premier Gladys Berejiklian “for bringing my government into more disrepute than is necessary”.
The Premier had been determine to tough it out and stand by both men as they engaged in an unedifying personal stoush but changed her mind after Niki Savva (pictured) insisted they had to go.
Both men have resigned from state parliament and will hit the Eden-Monaro hustings almost immediately, even though a by-election date has yet to be announced.
The Bug was in fact the first news outlet to break the news to John Barilaro that Andrew Constance had also rejoined the fight for Eden-Monaro.
“Has he? That’s fine by me. I’ll take the cunt apart,” Barilaro spat.
When told by phone that Barilaro had once again called him a cunt, Mr Constance broke down but managed to blurt out between sobs: “Oooh, you bitch!”
Mr Constance said he would once again withdraw from the Eden-Monaro race if just one new person made fun of his emotional state after the New Year’s Eve bushfires that almost claimed his family home.
“Sorry, mate, I’ve got to go. I’ve got another call coming it … from John Barilaro of all people…”
