Trump vacates Oval Office

WASHINGTON DC: President Donald Trump will vacate the historic Oval Office in the West Wing of the White House to work from a remote site for the remainder of his current term.

A White House spokesperson said the move was unconnected to the proclamation Mr Trump signed this week designating the Oval Office as a national monument.

The presidential declaration is aimed at preserving the office in its current form, including the massive amount of gold filigree decorations and other embellishments Mr Trump has insisted on installing since he began his second term.

“That proclamation is a stand-alone issue and has nothing to do with the President’s new workspace,” the spokesperson said.

“We won’t be disclosing the exact location of the mine for security reasons,” the spokesperson said.

“But I can say that the President, despite the fact he will need to commute to and from the White House by helicopter, is very happy that we were able to find a location that will make him feel at home since the mine in question still has numerous visible seams of gold.”

When pressed for a reason for the change in office, the spokesperson conceded it was “somewhat related” to the outcome of the mid-term elections.

“As you know since the election the President has chosen to make changes to his senior staff and Susie Wiles will be departing the position of his chief of staff,” the spokesperson said.

“With her replacement being current deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller (below) we knew that continuing to use the Oval Office would be untenable.

“Stephen will be in and out of meetings with the President all day long and we recognised that having an office that any ray of sunlight can penetrate was never going to work,” the spokesperson said.
