Murdoch sells up Down Under

International media mogul Rupert Murdoch has placed all of his Australian real estate holdings on the market in preparation for a One Nation federal government implementing its policy to ban foreigners owning residential properties.

The Melbourne-born Mr Murdoch renounced his Australian citizenship in 1985 to take up American citizenship which enable him to hold US television licences.

“I now think I probably should have remained an Aussie became I wouldn’t need to shed so many properties in Australia in the face of what all news outlets here… I mean all News outlets here tell me is the inevitability of a One Nation government,” he said on a flying visit from New York to Cavan Station to initiate its sale.

“Sure some in One Nation like Barnaby Joyce have fucked up the public explanation of its policy on foreigners holding Australian residential property.

“But what remains clear is that their policy to force foreigners to sell up will remain once Pauline Hanson is in The Lodge.

“So I’m selling up now because it will take so long to do so given how much I own Down Under.”

Mr Murdoch said while the One Nation policy appeared to apply only to residential property, he was not taking any chances.

“That’s why I’ll also be selling off Sky News because initial legal advice suggests it could fall under the proposed One Nation law by virtue of being the home of far right authoritarian anti-democratic propaganda,” he explained while rounding up sheep in a Cavan Station back paddock.

“My lawyers are also working out wether …. oops, I mean whether I also need to divest myself of my ownership of the Liberal Party of Australia.”

Mr Murdoch conceded that as an influential media owner he had the ability to influence the policy of any federal government and could try to do so to avoid the proposed One Nation policy and its application to his holdings.

“Sure, I could try doing that, but as everyone knows, I’ve never done that sort of thing in the past and I’m not going to start now,” he said, casting his eyes skyward to determine what was casting shadows over his flock. (below)
