The Bug readily admits that it finds the silly season more than just a little disappointing when the ABC Insiders program is not around to take the mickey out of.

It especially aggrieves our Xcrements-of-the-Week judges who love to pile said xcreta on Insiders host David Speers and the generally conservative journo panel he tags right-wing stuff with.

So, let’s fire away with Sunday’s new-season opener with no other than Opposition Leader Peter Dutton as guest. Who would have thought, hey?

And what caused many of our Xcretas to void so smellingly on Dutton’s chrome dome? His laughable announcement that while he thinks cuts in “wasteful” government spending will be needed if he becomes PM in a few short months, he won’t be disclosing those cuts until after that poll! Yes, we know. Unbelievably arrogant and dismissive of the entire electoral process and a basic “fuck you” to voters.

Our judges thought the entire batch we’re about to highlight could all have won xcreta-of-the-week honours but they’ve kicked off with Chris Pianta (at top and below) and a self-confessed agog Laura Tingle.

All on much the same theme were Daniel Best – Author and Simon Banks, both playing with Dutton’s pathetic slogan from the Voice referendum ….

… along with Robyn, Toilet Paper Australia, Lee-Anne Walker, JayJay and Politic@l Spinner.

Dumping a load on the Spud in general terms were Squizz, Michael J Wyllie, Lachie Russ and Kate…

… while Wazza from Melbourne and Eagle Sam enjoyed Tingle and Phillip Coorey discussing economic matters.
