WASHINGTON DC: A previously unknown Democratic Party activist is calling on Vice-President Kamala Harris to rethink her choice of running mate for the November presidential election.
Job Iden (main picture) told a news conference that he would bring more to the Democratic Party ticket than Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, yet he had not received even the courtesy of a reply to his email to Ms Harris.
“Now, my story begins in 19-dickety-two. We had to say ‘dickety’ because the Kaiser stole our word ‘twenty’. I chased that rascal to get it back, but gave up after dickety-six miles,” Mr Iden said. “The important this was that I had an onion tied to my belt, which was the style at the time.”
When quizzed by reporters about his own background and qualifications to be a vice-presidential candidate Mr Iden stared blankly for several seconds then replied: “What can I do for you? Eat something green? Vote for someone brown?
“We finally beat Medicare,” he said before leaving the podium.

MELBOURNE: Former federal treasurer Josh Frydenberg has been forced twice to clarify remarks he made when revealing he was this year’s recipient of the Monash Medal, named after Australian military leader Sir John Monash, and bestowed on Australians demonstrating high standards of community leadership. In comments after news of the award broke, Mr Frydenberg called for Australia to confront authoritarian regimes abroad and defeat anti-democratic forces at home.
But shortly after making the remarks he issued a statement saying he did not mean to include the Israeli Government in his criticism of overseas authoritarian regimes.
He later issued another statement referencing his remarks about anti-democratic forces within Australia, saying he was not planning a Liberal Party leadership challenge to Peter Dutton.

BRISBANE: Queensland Premier Steven Miles has denied his plan for 12 government-owned petrol stations was an “insurance policy” if he loses the October election.
“I think it’s a great idea and nothing should be read into the fact that I have started a TAFE Certificate III course in customer service at a Caboolture servo,” he said. (below) “Can I check your oil and water while you’re here?”
