Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is not expected to drive out to the Governor-General at Yarralumla this morning and resign his commission after a stinging rebuke from SkyLNP News Australia host Sharri Markson.
An insider in the PM’s office told The Bug: “The PM has stubbornly decided to carry on although he knows a massive attack from Shari Markson, given the enormous audience and coverage of SkyLNP News Australia, is usually fatal to any politician.”
The SkyLNP News Australia host called out Anthony Albanese and Chris Bowen over their use of two private jets to get to the same event, which she thundered “shows Albanese has become more out of touch”.
Anthony Albanese and Chris Bowen both came under fire for using two RAAF jets to fly to the Hunter Valley last week.
While Markson did report that Energy Minister Chris Bowen said the decision to take private jets was in line with advice from the Royal Australian Air Force, she added this fatal stinging blow that would have undone any politician with any sense of shame whatsoever: “I mean, a lot of people talk about – and no one more so than Anthony Albanese himself – talks about his humble upbringings/
“It is an incredible story, but he has been in politics for more than two decades now, and nothing shows that he’s become more out of touch than something like this.”
The PM office insider added: “At least you’ve got to admire the PM’s spunk in deciding to stay put and to carry on, no matter how futile that will be after Markson’s attack.
“Don’t quote me on this but the silly sod still thinks he’s very much in touch with the Australian people.”
