A spokesperson for the Liberal Party’s secretariat in Canberra said Opposition Leader Peter Dutton (main picture) was being given credit for the potential boost to the party’s coffers in time for the 2025 federal election.
“Since Labor won office in 2022 Peter has been doing everything he can to push the Liberal Party to the far, far right on any issue – any issue at all,” the spokesperson said.

“His negative, destructive, sometimes downright abusive right-wing rhetoric and dog-whistling on racial issues, backed up by daily advertisements disguised as news stories in Murdoch media outlets and blatantly pro-Liberal barracking by far-right Sky News after dark hosts and radio shock jocks all add up to an electorate in which many people now feel very comfortable embracing far-right, authoritarian, and often racist tactics.
“We saw that last weekend when groups of men clad all in black like the blackshirt fascists of the 1930s and 40s felt entirely comfortable roaming the streets of our nation’s biggest city.
“The good news, or I should say, the even better news is that thanks to Peter Dutton the party can now dust off the thousands of old ‘Back in Black’ coffee mugs we had made for Josh Frydenberg’s budget back in 2019 before COVID turned the economy to shit.
“We’re now just adjusting them by having the word ‘shirts’ added to each mug so we can charge well above the original $35 apiece price. Probably double that, or more.
“This is a certain money spinner because we’ve now got masses of people in black head to toe who’ve taken their cue from Peter and the Murdoch empire and who are ready to thump anyone who disagrees with them and their far-right views, or just thump anyone who is actually naturally black from head to toe,” the spokesperson said.
