‘Furious’ Netanyahu seeks answers

THE MIDDLE EAST:

TEL AVIV: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered an immediate inquiry following the shooting deaths in a West Bank hospital of three alleged Hamas operatives at the hands of undercover Israeli military officers.

An Israeli Government spokesperson, who was an observer at today’s first meeting of Netanyahu’s war cabinet since the killings, admitted the Prime Minister was very angry.

“I can tell you that I have never seen Mr Netanyahu more furious, and that’s saying something,” the spokesperson said.

“The Prime Minister told the war cabinet that when he was first advised of the operation a few days ago he was very, very angry because he simply couldn’t believe that the West Bank had a hospital.

“He demanded to know why that was the case when the Israeli Defence Force (IDF) had managed to eliminate almost every hospital in Gaza.

“When nobody could give him a satisfactory answer he demanded, and received, cabinet approval for an immediate inquiry.”

The spokesperson said further details of the inquiry would be provided soon.

“The Prime Minister’s angry demeanour at the war cabinet made it difficult to decipher exactly who he would be sending to the West Bank to conduct the inquiry,” he said.

“From what I could make out he’ll be sending someone called Miss Isles and another chap whose name, I think, is Ariel Bombardment,” the spokesperson said.
