ISRAEL/GAZA WAR:
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says he needed to issue orders swiftly today to ensure Hamas terrorists allegedly hiding in court buildings in Jerusalem within Israeli territory were targeted and killed in surgical missile strikes.
“I admit that the timing of the operation made it necessary for me to direct the Israeli Defence Force to launch its attack on the Israeli Supreme Court building with utmost speed,” Mr Netanyahu explained while inspecting the ruins of the building.
“It is unfortunate that there was not sufficient time to warn other occupants of the building including all Supreme Court judges to evacuate before the missile strike.
“I am advised that happily at this stage,… I mean sadly at this stage there have been no survivors found,” he said.
As Mr Netanyahu spoke three IDF missiles flew overhead which he explained were headed to the District Court building in Jerusalem. (main picture)
“Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that Hamas is hiding in the District Court building too,” he told reporters.
When asked if it were the same District Court where his trial on corruption charges was now under way, Mr Netanyahu expressed surprise.
“Really? Golly gosh, that is a coincidence isn’t it?” he replied. “But what can I do? We need to destroy Hamas don’t we?”
When asked how Hamas had managed to infiltrate the Supreme and District Court buildings, Mr Netanyahu said: “Tunnels. They had 80km tunnels from Gaza to Jerusalem.
“I’m sure the IDF will say they have found the tunnels when they sift through the rubble. In fact I can guarantee that they’ll say that.”
