WASHINGTON DC: President Donald Trump has ordered the American military to establish a second blockade in Hungary in addition to the one being formed in the Strait of Hormuz following the collapse of peace talks with Iran.

In a post on his Truth Social account Mr Trump said: “As your Commander-in-Chief I have ordered American forces to blockade strategic sites in Hungry [sic] to prevent the election there being stolen from my good friend Viktor Orban.”

The post said there was “no way” Mr Orban could have lost the weekend general election and described news reports of a landslide win by the opposition party as “fake news”.

“How could he lose by mimicking me and my policies and with my Vice-President JD Vance helping out by campaigning so strongly for him to help counter foreign interference in the campaign?” Mr Trump said. (main picture)

In his Truth Social post Mr Trump confirmed that he had overruled America’s peak military advisory body, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, which had expressed reservations about mounting a blockade of the land-locked independent nation.

“The Joint Chiefs will be sacked if they resist my orders, especially the one about diverting the USS Gerald Ford aircraft carrier and other US Navy ships to sail directly from the Middle East to Budapest where Marines will be landed to re-establish law and order,” Mr Trump posted, adding that the Hungarian blockade would be seen as having been “good practice for our military come November”.

“Once he is restored to office I am sure Governor Orban will do a good job leading our 51st state which I remind everyone is just a short missile flight away from Greenland.

“Thank you for your attention to this matter,” he ended in his traditional manner.
