Bush repeats ‘Mission Accomplished’ stunt

SAN DIEGO, CA: The current war in the Middle East has prompted former US President, George W Bush, to recreate his appearance on a US Navy aircraft carrier to declare “Mission Accomplished”.

In May 2003 Mr Bush famously landed in a US Navy jet fighter on the deck of the USS Abraham Lincoln near the coast of California off San Diego where he stood in front of a “Mission Accomplished” banner to announce major US combat operations in Iraq had ended following its invasion six weeks earlier.

However, even though Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein was later captured and executed, the Iraq war and America’s involvement in it dragged on for eight years, cost the US almost $4 trillion and the lives of close to 5,000 service personnel, before its forces were withdrawn in 2011.

Today a noticeably older and frailer Bush repeated his 2003 stunt. (main picture)

He denied he was backing current US President Donald Trump’s position that the US-Israeli attacks on Iran had succeeded and were essentially completed.

“No, I’m doing nothing of the kind,” he told reporters.

“For years I’ve been waiting for a President to make an even bigger fuck-up in the Middle East than I did so that my place in history as the worst President of all time becomes the second-worst and everyone can focus on the fuck-knuckle who made a bigger blunder than even I could possibly dream of.

“That’s now happened, thanks to Donald Trump, so: Mission Accomplished!” he said.

TEL AVIV: Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, (below) has confirmed that he was influential in persuading US President Donald Trump to join in the attack on Iran that is rapidly developing into a military quagmire in the wider Middle East and having a devastating impact on world fuel supplies and national economies.

According to longstanding observers of Mr Netanyahu, confirmation at a news conference today that President Trump was dragged into the action came when the Israeli PM denied he had dragged President Trump into the action.

“Netanyahu’s statement vehemently denying he had dragged President Trump into the action puts it beyond doubt that he had dragged President Trump into the action,” one Israeli political commentator said.

At the news conference Mr Netanyahu said he was confident that the conflict would be over just before the end of the year 5786.

Asked to clarify if he were referring to the current year 5786 on the traditional Jewish calendar, he said: “No.”
