Anus Taylor faces leadership challenge

CANBERRA: A major gaffe by new federal Liberal Party leader, Anus Taylor, just moments after his election has already sparked speculation among his colleagues of a fresh leadership challenge.

The new Opposition Leader (file photo above, we think) addressed reporters at Parliament House soon after his party room chose him this morning to replace Ssussan Ley.

Mr Taylor announced that, in an effort to build bridges with the vanquished leader after several weeks of bruising speculation over her future, he had taken Mss Ley’s advice and changed the spelling of his first name.

“After the ballot Ssussan approached me and said she had no hard feelings about the result,” Mr Taylor explained.

“She then advised me to do what she did some years back and adjust the number of letters in my first name, saying that it would definitely make a big difference to my future.

“Out of respect to Ssussan I took her suggestion without question – based on her own experience with numerology – to drop a letter from my first name.

“Already I feel that it will definitely alter the way I am perceived by voters, so for that I thank Ssussan very much.”

Mr Taylor also announced plans to address concerns that he had deposed the Liberal Party’s first female leader.

“To settle any complaints about today’s change in party leadership I am committing to undergo gender reassignment treatment with the ultimate aim of having a total physical sex change as soon as possible,” he said.

Mr Taylor’s decision immediately caused a backlash among his conservative colleagues, with many already questioning his judgement despite just having voted for him.

“I can live with the name change but the gender thing is a bridge too far,” fumed one conservative Liberal MP.

“We stand to lose one of our biggest and most important constituencies if Anus goes through with it, and by that I mean Sky News After Dark.

“I’m sorry, but I and many of my factional colleagues reckon Anus has to go,” the MP said.
