Idiot backs idiot’s idiotic idea

BLATANT HYPOCRISY:

Former prime minister, noted barefaced liar, and all-round happy-clapping fuckwit, Scott Morrison, (far right at left in main picture) has floated the idea of forcing Australia’s Muslim leaders to license Islamic preachers, translate all sermons into English, and set up a board to police radicals. His idea was given in-principle backing by the federal Liberal Party’s shadow housing minister, Senator Andrew Bragg. (supposedly moderate but far right if there’s votes in it in main picture). The Bug spoke to the NSW Senator to further explore his supportive comments.

The Bug: Senator Bragg, just how can radical extremists be reined in and what real danger does such a small minority of hate mongers pose to our nation and its future?

AB: We really need to stamp this dire threat out now before it’s too late. These people are a small minority but our very future is at stake if we don’t find a way to repel them.

The Bug: But there are many Muslim Australians who are being harmed through guilt by association aren’t there?

AB: Huh? What are you on about?

The Bug: I’m talking about Scott Morrison’s speech in Israel.

AB: Oh, sorry. I was talking about One Nation.

The Bug: So when you said you feared for “our future” you meant the Liberal Party’s?

AB: Yep.

The Bug: Oh, okay. Well, on Scott Morrison’s idea, you’ve supported it as something worth examining. Why?

AB: I think the Australian Muslim community has to take some responsibility for the behaviours we’ve seen exhibited over the last couple of decades. Unfortunately, it has been a pattern of behaviour that some of these smaller incidents – and now we’ve had a significant terrorist incident – have emerged from these communities.

The Bug: Scott Morrison was speaking at an antisemitism conference in Israel. If he were genuine in tackling extremism spurred by religion, don’t you think he should have taken the opportunity to ask his audience there to step up and take similar collective responsibility for the genocide we have seen in Gaza at the hands of the Netanyahu Government?

AB: Huh? What are you on about?

The Bug: Well, the Gaza genocide has been backed by radical Israelis who’ve publicly expressed sentiments about Palestinians that can easily be categorised as hate speech.

AB: I’m not getting into any sort of false equivalence.

The Bug: How is it false equivalence? Isn’t it true consistency? And how about Christians taking collective responsibility for kiddie-fiddling priests and pastors?

AB: Sorry, the line’s breaking up badly. I can’t quite hear you.

The Bug: Hang on, we’re doing this interview face-to-face in your Sydney office.

AB: You might have to speak up a bit.

The Bug: (loudly) Just quickly on another issue. You said some months back that if the then coalition abandoned its net-zero policy position on climate change that you would quit the opposition frontbench. Yet you’re still a shadow minister, so I was wondering……

AB: Nope. Still no good. I’ll move a bit to see if I can get better reception.

(Senator Bragg stands and edges towards his office door)

AB: Is that better?

The Bug: There’s not a problem. I can still hear you perfectly, and see you. You’re just two metres away.

AB: No. No. It’s no better this end. I can’t hear you. I’ll move a bit more and see if it improves.

(Senator Bragg exits his office and runs quickly to the building’s lifts)
