WASHINGTON, DC: As a change to the on-the-ground leadership of US federal law enforcement agencies takes effect in Minneapolis, President Donald Trump says he deserves a ninth Nobel Peace Prize for the shift in tactics.
Mr Trump yesterday directed his so-called “border czar” Tom Homan to take over control of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations in Minneapolis from the controversial Greg Bovino.
As the agency’s self-titled Oberst-Gruppenführerb, Herr Bovino, (extreme right and centre in main picture) was last seen on the frontline in Minneapolis yesterday about to board what observers believed was a Panzer armoured personnel carrier.
It is believed he was driven to the Minneapolis-St Paul Airport where he boarded a Border Patrol VIP Junkers aircraft and was flown to his Berghof mountain retreat in California.
In the wake of the change Mr Trump told a White House news conference that he deserved recognition for the move. (below)

“By making the changes yesterday, once again I have avoided, at least for now, a war – this time a full-scale Second Civil War,” he said.
“But what does it get me? Nothing! I should already have eight – count ’em, eight – Nobel Peace Prizes for the wars I’ve stopped in just the first year of my second of four terms.
“Now in Minneapolis I have stopped another one but the Nobel Peace Prize people once again fail to recognise my efforts.”
During his three-hour opening statement to reporters, President Trump gave a justification for ICE’s activities in Minneapolis.
“All I’ve ever wanted to do in Minneapolis and elsewhere in Democratic-run states like Minnesota is to create enough chaos to justify cancelling the November mid-term elections,” he admitted.
“That’s all I’m trying to do. It’s simple, right? But events were edging too close to starting a Second Civil War, so I had to goosestep in and do something.
“I certainly wanted to avoid a Second Civil War, at least until just before November 2028 so I could cancel those elections too.”
Asked if he was confident Mr Homan would do a better job in Minneapolis, Mr Trump expressed his qualified support.
“I think he will do okay. He’s my border czar after all. I really wanted to send in a real czar but Vladimir said he was too busy. Pity,” he said.
When questioned on what advice he would offer Herr Bovino, the President said: “I think he should stand back and stand by. He and his boys should be proud of what they achieved in Minneapolis.”
