Bibi backs bigger Gaza plans

PROPERTY NEWS:

TEL AVIV: After initially expressing doubts about US President Donald Trump’s plans for the Bored of Peace overseeing Gaza’s redevelopment and rebuilding, Israel Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, says he is now fully onboard with the concept and is even urging its members to be more ambitious in their planning.

The Israeli PM’s turnabout comes as off-the-plan sales start for the multitude of high-rise residential blocks planned for Gaza under the stewardship of President Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner. (main picture)

Mr Kushner said there had so far been very strong interest in the project being undertaken for the new Bored of Peace by a Trump-family related US-based corporate entity, Korrupt-R-Us.

“One of the big attractions is the fact that Gaza is now essentially a cleared site so redevelopment plans are much easier to draw up,” he said.

“It would be much more complicated if we had lots of the obstacles and red tape we usually face with such developments, like existing homes and people living in them.

“Luckily, and thanks to my good friend Bibi Netanyahu, all of them are gone and so too are redundant buildings that usually get in the way of redevelopment such as schools, kindergartens, hospitals, universities, libraries and other useless facilities,” Mr Kushner said.

Meanwhile, Mr Netanyahu said he now fully supported the Gaza redevelopment plans but had concluded they should be more ambitious.

“As Jared Kushner says, I have already done a lot to clear the site ready for redevelopment and settlement by anyone interested in buying property there, provide they are Israeli citizens of course,” Mr Netanyahu said. (below)

“I have freed up space for at least 72,000 new residents to move in, and thanks to the ceasefire Jared helped negotiate I am building on that figure every day.

“I’ve told him he needs to take that into account and expand his projections for new residents.

“If the ceasefire continues I can free up space for many thousands, perhaps tens of thousands, more residents for the new Gaza,” he said.
