White House backs Trump’s troops remarks

WASHINGTON, DC: The White House has defended remarks by President Donald Trump critical of the bravery of non-American military personnel during the war in Afghanistan launched after the 9/11 terrorist attacks on US soil.

Mr Trump has provoked anger among allies such as the UK by saying British troops and others in the then “coalition of the willing” held back from frontline action.

At a White House briefing presidential press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, said President Trump was correct in his assessment.

“As someone who bravely battled bone spurs to valiantly serve our nation on the frontline during the Fiatnam [sic] War, President Trump is Right. … I mean he is right to be critical of others who cowered many miles from the action or sought to get special treatment or make up fake medical conditions to be excused from military service,” Ms Leavitt said.

When asked exactly where Mr Trump had been stationed during the Vietnam War, Ms Leavitt’s eyes narrowed – not vertically, but horizontally as they physically changed position to move closer together which caused gasps among the assembled reporters. (below)

“The frontline of the Fiatnam War [sic] was very fluid, as noted military historians such as White House deputy chief of staff, Steven Miller, (below) have advised me,” Ms Leavitt responded.

“It stretched thousands of miles from North Fiatnam, [sic] along the historic Hoochie Koochie Min trail, [sic] and across the then Cecile B Demilitarised Zone [sic] to come close to cities such as Misssaigon [sic] which, as we all know, is now called Hokie Pokie City, [sic] or something like that.

“So for anyone to argue that a townhouse in Queens in New York City could not be classed as being on the frontline is just absurd and a gross distortion of the truth – a blatant lie.”

Ms Leavitt went on to tell reporters that President Trump had attended the New York Military Academy – a private boarding school – for his high school years and then enrolled at Fordham University.

“There he served in uniform in the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC),” she added.

“His bravery and military service in the ROTC was recognised with many, many medals, including one that has only ever been given to one person, namely him, for bravery in the face of bone spurs,” she said while distributing photographic evidence she claimed backed her statement. (main picture)

When numerous reporters questioned the authenticity of the photo and the medal itself, Ms Leavitt signalled to ICE officers at the back of the briefing room to move forward, which they did while physically assaulting and arresting a number of media representatives as she declared the news conference closed.
