WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump’s plans for Greenland should be clearer after a visit there by a US delegation next week.
In releasing details of the visit, White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, (below) gave some hints about the President’s vision for the future of the self-governing Danish territory.

Washington observers noted that Ms Leavitt had told a White House press pool briefing that Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, (far right in centre of main picture) would lead the delegation.
“But she also made it clear that Donald Trump Junior (far right at left in main picture) and the President’s son-in-law Jared Kushner (far right at far right in main picture) – who both help run the Trump family’s business interests – will be part of the delegation,” noted one Washington watcher who wished to remain anonymous.
“Ms Leavitt repeatedly denied that the visit was merely a cover for plans by President Trump and his family to once again line their pockets by doing business deals under the guise of US foreign affairs and diplomacy.
“At the same time she constantly referred to the Danish territory in question as ‘Greens Land’.
“Ms Leavitt did confirm that the US trio would meet local lawmakers on a visit to the Inatsisartut – the Parliament of Greenland. (below)

“But she subsequently referred repeatedly to the parliamentary building as ‘the club house’ and to the territory’s Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen, as ‘current pro-shop manager’.
“It was also notable that she prefaced each answer to questions from reporters by yelling ‘Fore!’
“In addition, Ms Leavitt was forced to clarify one answer she gave to a key question from reporters,” the observer said.
The question had focussed on the timeline the President had in mind for his plans to acquire Greenland.
In response, Ms Leavitt was understood to have said any resolution of the US takeover issue was “a fair way away” but soon clarified her remark as being “a fairway away”.
