Trump rejects crude reason for invasion

WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump has rejected suggestions that his overthrow of the government of Venezuela and the arrest of its president, Nicolas Maduro, is a transparent move to do the bidding of US oil companies whose assets were nationalised by the nation’s former leader, the late Hugo Chavez.

Under questioning at a news conference at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, Mr Trump said: “Oil be the first to deny that allegation.

“It’s ridiculous to think that as Commander in Chief I would have exxonmobilised the US military to barrel into another country just because we want to get our hands on its oil.

“It’s a derrickulous … I mean ridiculous question. The USA has never done that before.

“I rack my brain to think of any previous occasion a President has done that. Oil not be doing it,” he added before pointing directly at the reporter in question (main picture) and attacking them for spreading “fake news”.

“You’re a fuel to ask such a very brent crude, … I mean crude question.

“My overwhelming concern is to octane the best outcome for the people of Greenland …, oops… I mean Venice…Venusflytrap, … whatever.”

Mr Trump then declared he would answer no further questions.

“Oil let the Secretary of State, Conoco Rubio,… I mean Marco Rubio to explain things further,” he said before striding purposefully from the lectern before using a walking stick and limping badly once he thought he was out of sight.
