WASHINGTON, DC: The White House says the first instalment of photos sourced from the so-called Epstein files within the US Department of Justice (main picture and below) proves there is “no need to disclose further files, even if we could”.
White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, (below) told a news conference that an incident during the preparation of the files for release meant that the question of disclosing more of the material relating to the late sex trafficker of underage girls, Jeffrey Epstein, was now “academic”.

“Unfortunately, as all the files and photos in the many boxes of the Epstein files released by the Justice Department were about to be photocopied at the White House for publication, all of them accidentally fell into a nearby heavy-duty office shredder,” Ms Leavitt said.
“Then – would you believe? – the shredded material spontaneously combusted, so there’s really nothing left to release apart from the few surviving photos I can distribute today. (main picture and below)

Ms Leavitt said despite the accidental destruction of the material, President Trump should be applauded for fulfilling his “solemn promise” to release “each and every item in the Epstein files”.

“Some people have been telling lies about the President’s stand on these files,” Ms Leavitt said.
“They claim that he promised during the 2024 election campaign to release all the Epstein files, but then refused to do so after he won office again. That’s a lie.”

Several reporters then sought to pose questions but before doing so replayed audio tapes of Mr Trump promising during the 2024 election campaign to release all the Epstein files followed by his comments refusing to do so after he won office again.
“That’s fake news,” Ms Leavitt shot back – literally, by taking a handgun from beneath the lectern and firing several times at the reporters who screamed and fled the briefing room.
