Israel strikes Hamas beyond Gaza

GAZA WAR:

TEL AVIV: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced the first massive air strikes on Hamas strongholds well outside the Gaza strip.

In an address to the nation, Mr Netanyahu (below) said fighter-bombers from the Israeli Air Force had returned this morning from sorties “deep into enemy territory” in Ireland, Spain, Slovenia, and the Netherlands during which they launched air-to-ground missiles against what he described as anti-semitic Hamas terrorist cells.

“These cowardly anti-semitic Hamas terrorists have been hiding in anti-semitic tunnels underneath what otherwise look like average TV and radio studio complexes – albeit anti-semitic – operated by anti-semitic public broadcasters,” he said.

“But I can tell you that the strikes by our brave pilots have destroyed these anti-semitic buildings in anti-semitic Dublin, Madrid, Ljubljana, and Amsterdam.”

Immediate reports said facilities operated by public broadcasters RTE in Dublin, RTVE in Madrid (main picture), RTVSLO in Ljubljana, and Avrotros in Amsterdam had been either destroyed or massively damaged with a likely death toll, including staff and children from in-house child-care facilities at all four sites, yet to be determined.

In a change from his usual sombre presentation of major news in his nation’s offensive against Hamas, Mr Netanyahu ended his address by introducing Israeli singer-songwriter Yuval Raphael (below) the country’s flagbearer at the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest who performed an original song written by Mr Netanyahu.

The composition entitled Pardon Him, was sung by Ms Raphael in the style of Marilyn Monroe’s 1962 rendition of Happy Birthday to US President John F Kennedy, (below) and featured the chorus: Pardon him Mister President or else your next.
