Our headings above riff, of course, off “If it bleeds, it leads”, the journalistic adage meaning that sensational stories involving violence, injury and death get priority in news selection, be it print or electronic media.

Those headings of ours refer of course to those in the media around the world, with MAGA cookers in full voice as well, who are trying to make the lightest of misdemeanours the rape of young girls that, as one commentator put it, were almost of legal age anyway so why all the fuss.

One suggestion echoed the reasoning of resigned Governor-General of Australia and former Anglican Archbishop of Brisbane, Dr Peter Hollingworth, who once publicly blamed a 15-year-old girl who suffered sexual exploitation by claiming that it was “not sex abuse” by a priest, but “rather the other way round”.

Yes, even in the US there must sometimes arise cases where age and consent do blur, but one significant fact is crystal clear – every state in America considers that any one who sticks their dicks in either girl is committing statutory rape.

Down Under, Sharri Markson provides her own variation of this wicked defence of downplaying any information that might emerge, should any release of the Epstein files be open and thorough, that names some very powerful white guys from around the globe who thought it perfectly okay to fiddle a kiddy or two.

For you see, Markson thinks it’s an absolutely appalling waste of time that US lawmakers in both houses have voted almost unanimously to have the Epstein files released immediately to provide some justice to the sexually trafficked victims of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.

Markson gives the impression with her rant overnight on Sky LNPNews that she might be in lockstep with MAGA cookers and Trump apologists in the US who thinks any teenager is fair game once they reach puberty. Perhaps Markson’s own journalism adage to suit rich and powerful men with swinging dicks is: If it’s got hair, let’s go there!

“It also says something deeply troubling about Congress’s warped priority that after 42 days of a government shutdown the Epstein files becomes its top order of business,” Markson railed.

We at the MGH think this X post from Kenny Devine just about sums up what any decent person would think of Markson’s blast.

We’re with you, Kenny! The poor wee lass appears to be almost beside herself with hand-wringing consternation that the MAGA movement could splinter and be less supportive of the greatest world leader who has ever lived and who is doing everything in his power to ensure -through billionaire tax breaks, the dismantling of climate change measures and environmental protections and selling bombs to almost anyone who wants them – that making money becomes even easier for Rupert and Lachlan Murdoch. They must be very proud of Markson’s efforts on their behalf.
