Is AI good for a laugh?

A SPECIAL ONGOING BUG INVESTIGATION!

#8 in an occasional BUG series!

Seeing it’s been suggested of late that Artificial Intelligence and rapid advances in human robots will shortly leave much of the world’s population jobless – not just in crucial jobs such as journalism and nursing but also teaching, medical specialties including most if not all surgeries, aircraft piloting; well, basically all machinery operations big and small – one thing The Bug has wondered over recent times that we think a fairly simple question could answer: Does AI have a sense of humour?

Here’s our latest attempt to answer that question, with this put to Google overnight.

ADVICE PLEASE ON HEART DISEASE AND ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION!

My husband, 75, has been diagnosed with moderate heart disease issues over recent months. Is there any medical evidence to suggest a reduction in alcohol consumption helps slow this decline? Although he sometimes gives it a bit of a nudge at weekends, most week days he drinks very moderately and probably averages only the daily equivalent of, at most, two to three standard bottles.

AI Overview

Yes, reducing alcohol consumption can help slow the decline of heart disease, especially given his age and recent diagnosis. While some older studies suggested benefits from moderate drinking, the latest advice from health organizations like the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Heart Foundation is that no level of alcohol is considered safe, and even moderate drinking can carry risks that may outweigh any potential benefits. For someone with diagnosed heart issues, abstaining or significantly reducing intake is the safest option, and it’s crucial to discuss this with his doctor to determine the right course of action for his specific condition.

Our guess is that the answer is No, the same result of our previous six questions posed to this seemingly unstoppable mind source that will soon have us all well and truly fucked.

PS: The Bug being staffed by logical, fair minded and thoroughly decent people accepts that AI might have a very dry sense of humour and may be playing us off a break and gaining the upper hand by ignoring our silliness. A big gotcha indeed! We’ve got to accept that an entity vastly more intelligent than all of our IQs combined could do that rather easily. In addition, he, she or it may just be being very professional and answering only the serious parts of the question.
