King clarifies Andrew’s housing

LONDON: Buckingham Palace has moved to clarify the new housing arrangements His Majesty King Charles III will provide to his brother, the former Prince Andrew.

My Palace sources tell me that the King has been concerned at the misreporting that has occurred following the statement he issued last week stripping the former prince of his titles, stylings, and honours.

“The King acknowledges that his statement was not specific enough and led people to wrongly conclude that Mr Mountbatten-Windsor will be living at the royal estate at Sandringham after he moves out of Royal Lodge at Windsor,” a Palace insider said.

“The fact is that His Majesty, who’ll be footing his brother’s accommodation bill, is negotiating a long-term lease on a bedsitter unit in a public housing block in Sandringham on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsular. (main picture)

“His Majesty is also negotiating a one-way air fare for Mr Mountbatten-Windsor and is very pleased that Australia can once again play its original historic role as a destination for certain types of Britons no longer welcome to stay in Britain.

“As His Majesty remarked: ‘What’s the use of having colonies if you can’t use them?’,” my source said.

The Palace source also told me the one sticking point left to sort out is to ensure Mr Mountbatten-Windsor agrees in writing to a list of conditions for occupying the bedsit which includes his agreement to abide by an exclusion zone around the Sandringham Senior College.
