Has 9News given Ley the ssssssssssshits?

The column that has fun with the smaller mistakes and missteps of Australia’s mainstream mediocre; that pays homage to those sweet little fishes that individually don’t amount to a full meal but collectively can cause a tummy upset over the overall state of the once great and noble craft of journalism in this country.

Nine News Queensland has apologised unreservedly to federal Opposition Leader Sussan Ley for a visual error in Wednesday night’s 6pm bulletin.

“In creating a chyron (electronically generated baseline identity strap) for a story involving Ms Ley, a member of our graphics department was unaware that the S key on their keyboard was faulty and therefore sometimes prone to sticking,” a station executive said in a statement.

“All keyboards in the newsroom are currently being tested to make sure they are operating correctly and that this never happens again.

“We want to assure Ms Ley that the mistake was purely unintentional and in no way was Nine News Queensland or any of its production staff taking the pisssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss.”

Before we leave Nine News Queensland, it’s really great to see that 9now this morning (Saturday) is really at the top of its game!

UPDATE: At 4.08pm Queensland time, this hadn’t been fixed! 9WOW!

Production editor, sports journo sacked!

Two very experienced professionals at an unnamed TV news studio in one of the southern states have been summarily sacked for being the only news outfit around the nation that didn’t use the words “shock” and “shocked” to describe Ariarne Titmus’s decision to end her swimming career that earned her four Olympic gold medals.

As in Titmus’s retirement at 25 was a huge SHOCK that SHOCKED not just the Australian swimming community but an entire nation, possibly the whole world if the truth were known and anything else out there in the Universe.

The Bug understands former colleagues taunted both men as security escorted them off the station premises with hurtful shouts that included “And you called yourself journos!” and “Fucking morons! Did ratings ever mean anything to you?”

Our MGH teams spied this gem (below) on top of a thundering editorial in News Crap Australia’s Brisbane turdbloid, The Courier-Mail, about an alleged IT bungle in the state’s child safety system.

Perhaps the Courier‘s senior staff need to look within to find the full story of their own particular IT bungle before seeking answers about others.
